About the Lab:

The Multilingual Aphasia and Dementia Lab - The overarching clinical research program is aimed at improving our understanding of how the brain supports speech and language processes and how personalized speech and language interventions improve communication in bilingual speakers diagnosed with neurodegenerative diseases.

This position is currently funded through 8/15/25.

Purpose


The Multilingual Aphasia and Dementia Research Lab Research Associate will support an ongoing research project in the Multilingual Aphasia and Dementia Research Lab with our international collaborators.


Responsibilities:


  • Assist with neuroimaging and behavioral data collection and analysis, database management, and generation of presentations and manuscripts from research findings. Work closely with the PI to manage the laboratory including training of incoming personnel.
  • Assist with reporting of study findings to relevant funding sources, ensure data and reports are being maintained and updated.
  • Assist with participant screening, assessment, and treatment for studies examining the nature and management of progressive aphasia and related disorders in bilingual speakers.
  • Supervise undergraduate research assistants and their respective duties towards data collection and research projects in the MADR lab. Ensure that master's students are completing required steps for data collection and that data are not missing from each time point.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Speech-Language Pathology and 4 years experience providing assessments and treatments- Strong oral and written proficiency in both English, Spanish and Catalan Ability to take initiative in working both independently and in cooperation with others

  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate._
Preferred Qualifications- More than the required experience providing assessment and treatment to individuals presenting with a communication disorder caused by a neurodegenerative syndrome- Experience working with linguistic corpora in English, Spanish and Catalan- Previous experience working in a research laboratory- Prior research experience in aphasia, dementia, or bilingualism

Salary Range

$48,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

Standard office and lab conditions.

Work Shift- Please note availability will be needed on a variable basis from 7am-7pm depending on needs. Some weekend work may be required at times.- This position has limited remote hours each week
