Business Intelligence Engineer - New York, United States - Amazon

    Amazon background
    Description

Are you passionate about being a part of a team where your work has a meaningful impact on communities? Do you get excited about building process in an ambiguous, greenfield environment? Are you looking for an opportunity to support Amazons continued ability to deliver smiles in communities? If so, come work with us at the Community Operations (CommOps) team. CommOps improves the communities where we work and live by identifying and mitigating operational issues and driving positive social impacts.

CommOps is hiring a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer (Sr. BIE). This role will primarily support the Community Insights team, which spans Business Intelligence (BI) and Research Science (DE) functional areas. The ideal candidate is a highly analytical, critical thinker with advanced problem solving, data mining, analytics and pipeline development skills. This role requires close engagement with research scientists, principal product managers, and program managers to generate decisions impacting organizational strategic direction. Successful members of this team have a high bar for ownership and work autonomously to create high-quality analyses and reporting. They thrive in ambiguity, ask hard questions, and build scalable solutions that provide critical business insights. They find timely answers buried in large data sets and complex systems, identify root causes, and are obsessed with generating actionable business insights.

    Key job responsibilities

Partner with in-house scientists, product and program teams to translate requirements into effective end-to-end analytical solutions.

Collaborate with research and product teams to implement analytics systems and data structures to support large-scale data analysis and delivery of machine learning (ML) and statistical models.

Aggregate, analyze, and visualize large-scale datasets across multiple sources to guide discovery of delivery process problems. This will require data gathering and manipulation, synthesis and modeling, problem solving, and communication of insights via written recommendations.

Develop and drive best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, design testing, analysis, validation, and documentation.

Learn new technology and techniques to support product and process innovation.

Develop queries and visualizations for ad-hoc requests and projects, as well as ongoing reporting.
