Description
The Position:
- Water Resources Projects
- Facilities Engineering
- Plant Engineering Services (Electrical Engineering)
- Wastewater Technical and Emerging Issues
- Learning, developing, using hydrologic/hydraulic simulation computer models to analyze rainfall/runoff, open channel and floodplain flows.
- Supporting the dam safety program with research related to regulatory requests (State and Federal) which includes understanding relevant technical studies and compiling analysis results and findings.
- Ensuring hydropower license requirement compliance for the two largest reservoir facilities
- Analyzing, evaluating, and reporting for long term water supply planning and water shortage contingency planning.
- Hydraulic modeling to determine available flow and pressure within the water distribution system.
- Reviewing and planning documents written by other public agencies, evaluate impacts and write comment letters.
- Writing Notice of Exemptions to comply with the California Environmental Quality Act.
- Developing alternative analysis for new pipelines, pumping plants, regulators, and water storage tanks.
- Compiling and evaluating water quality data.
- Evaluating water treatment plant hydraulic data.
- Performing statistical analysis on water quality parameters and water treatment plant operations.
- Gathering field data at treatment and distribution facilities.
- Preparing cost benefit analyses using engineering economics.
- Preparing engineering drawings and specifications.
- Developing drawings using AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit or Plant 3D.
- Developing plans and details for workspace improvements, including architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical improvements.
- Meeting with District employees to clarify scope of work and to understand operational needs for workspace improvements.
- Conducting field inspections of workspaces proposed for improvement and taking detailed field measurements.
- Coordinating with District trades workers for implementing workspace improvements.
- Coordinating with vendors to obtain product and materials samples for workspace improvements.
- Meeting with customers to discuss potential recycled water uses.
- Use PCs for preparing reports, memos, graphics, and database.
- Presenting project findings and results (technical and nontechnical) to management and other District staff.
- Field test technologies that may optimize wastewater treatment plant processes, such as online monitoring and automated control of activated sludge inventories, disinfection, activated sludge selectors, solids dewatering, anaerobic digestion, etc.
- Perform wastewater laboratory analyses
Requirements:
- Completion of the twelfth grade, or its equivalent; and,
OR
2b. Current enrollment in a graduate level accredited engineering or related technical degree program;
OR
2c. Recent completion (within 12 months) of an undergraduate or graduate level accredited engineering or related technical degree program.
- excellent command of spoken and written English.
- general computer skills including MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project, and MS PowerPoint.
- computer programming, CAD and/or GIS experience.
- understanding of engineering economics and statistics.
- engineering modeling experience or familiarity.
- enrollment in an accredited Electrical Engineering degree program with the minimum completion of a semester focused on power courses.
- hands on laboratory experience through college courses or internships.
- knowledge and experience with field work, including sample collection.
