Department Description
***: Under the direction of the Instructional Supervisor, Early Childhood General Education the Early Childhood Resource Teacher will provide intentional coaching, professional development and training for Prekindergarten and Kindergarten teachers and paraprofessionals; implementation of the core components of the Danielson Framework for Teaching and the Maryland College and Career Ready Standards (MCCRS). The Early Childhood Resource Teacher supports an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of students in Prekindergarten and Kindergarten. They will collaborate with the Instructional Supervisor, Early Childhood General Education, principals, teachers and paraprofessional educators to monitor the effective implementation of the Early Childhood program and provide recommendations for adjustments, if necessary.

Salary Range:
$52,961 - $118,525

Detailed Description

DUTIES &RESPONSIBILITIES:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Provides intentional coaching to assigned teachers;
  • Assists with lesson planning, development of instructional materials, and implementation of curriculum, assessments, and professional development;
  • Encourages schools to utilize data to make sound decisions for students and to differentiate instruction;
  • Provides modeling and strategies for optimum teaching delivery and student results;
  • Addresses effective learning by utilizing universal design for learning, differentiated instruction, response to intervention and positive behavioral interventions and supports;
  • Attends and actively participates in staff meetings;
  • Attends schoolbased planning sessions and team meetings;
  • Confers with school instructional team (SIT)/multidisciplinary team (MDT) to address academic and/or behavioral concerns;
  • Maintains required documentation and follows required procedures and practices;
  • Improves skills and knowledge base in current trends, research and methodology in instructional techniques, technology, multicultural content, problem solving and interdisciplinary connections;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:


Bachelor's degree (Master's Degree preferred) in applicable field of education from a regionally accredited college or university and minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience teaching early childhood and planning curriculum; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.


CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:


A Professional Certificate (Advanced Professional Certificate preferred) appropriate to area of assignment issued by the Maryland State Department of Education.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

No direct supervisory responsibilities.
