Together with our affiliated local associations, our district association fulfills a multitude of helpful social tasks on a daily basis.

We are the provider of various social facilities and projects.

Twelve day care centers, after-school care at several schools in the district, and five communal accommodations for asylum seekers and refugees are all under the umbrella of AWO Werra-Meissner.

A wide range of professionally established counseling services in the areas of pregnancy, family and sexuality, debt counseling, and counseling against sexual violence towards children and adolescents complement our offerings.

With over 300 employees, as well as additional freelance workers, volunteers, and regular interns, we are dedicated to serving our fellow human beings at these locations every day.

The history of the Workers' Welfare Association (AWO) is rooted in the labor movement.

In the over 100 years since its founding in 1919, the AWO has developed into an independent organization within the social welfare sector.
