Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required.

6+ years of relevant work experience. Communications and press experience required.

Experience working in public affairs, communications, journalism strongly preferred.

Superior written and verbal communication skills.

Punctuality, time management and extreme attention to detail.

Ability to manage multiple tasks under deadline and work in a fast-paced environment.


Duties Description


The Deputy Communications Director for Health will oversee all aspects of press relations for the Governor, with the media and the public as it relates to health and healthcare policy in New York State.


Duties:


  • Advises the Governor and Senior Executive Staff on all programs and policies pertaining to promoting healthrelated policy.
  • Advises the Governor, Senior Executive Staff and Administration officials on communications and media related aspects and implications of programs and policies.
  • Leads on promoting key healthrelated administration initiatives and coordinating implementation of communication strategies among agencies and staff.
  • Responsible for formulating overall longterm policy and communications strategy.
  • Prepares general health policy related communications on behalf of the Governor, as directed.
  • Produces and disseminates reports and other communications of Gubernatorial policy or policy information statements, where broad public distribution is involved; prepares and disseminates official Gubernatorial testimony and statements.
  • Maintains continuing liaison with New York State agencies, Executive Chamber personnel, agency personnel from other states and regional operational alliances, media representatives and outside consultants.
  • Works directly with administration agencies and authorities within their assigned portfolio, on the daytoday operations regarding policy and communication matters to further the administration's initiatives and goals.
  • Serves as lead on developing and promoting key administration initiatives related to health policy and coordinating implementation among agencies and staff.
  • Accompanies the Governor on public appearances as required.
  • Performs related duties as may be required

Additional Comments
Some overtime and weekend work required. Some travel between Albany and New York City may be required.
