Position Summary:

The Access Control Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting access control systems. This role involves ensuring the proper functioning of electronic security systems to meet client and company objectives. The technician will collaborate with clients and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality access control solutions.


Essential Functions:
_Perform skilled labor duties related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of a wide variety of electrical systems and equipment to include but not limited to:_

  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot access control systems in accordance with project specifications.
  • Collaborate with project managers to estimate material and labor requirements for access control projects.
  • Conduct site evaluations and reviews of project documents, drawings, and specifications to plan and schedule work activities.
  • Ensure adherence to National Electrical Codes (NEC) and local building codes.
  • Coordinate with clients, general contractors, and other trades to resolve conflicts and provide excellent customer service.
  • Document and report on project progress, including the quality and quantity of work performed.
  • Follow safety measures and regulations, enforcing the use of safety equipment when required.
  • Order materials, complete paperwork, and document change orders as needed.
  • Participate in safety/incident investigations and reviews.
  • Indirectly supervise employees, providing training, assigning work, and appraising performance.

Experience and Education:


Required:


  • Skilled technician with at least two (2) years of experience in installing and maintaining access control systems.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematical operations, ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Familiarity with NEC, local building codes, industry standards, and job site safety requirements.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
  • High school or equivalent.

Preferred:


  • Experience with Bluebeam and Autodesk Build.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:


  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
  • Regularly lift and/or move objects 1050 lbs occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 lbs
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms and adjust body position to bend, stoop, stand, walk, turn, pivot, kneel, crouch, dig, trench, excavate, lift, carry, climb and stand for long periods of time
  • Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus, along with good eyehandfoot coordination
  • Frequently required to use hand to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and balance
  • Ability to assess weights and judge distances and heights
  • Must be able to work and elevated heights and/or underground
  • Requires ability to wear steel toe/composite/alloy work boots
  • Requires ability to perform physical duties listed above for extended periods of time
  • Requires the ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by location
  • The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/h
