Description
Responsible for all the catering and catering related functions. Critical areas include marketing and booking

of catering events, to include planning, organizing, and supervising the catering operation: developing menus,

pricing for catering and other duties necessary to operate a successful and profitable catering business.


  • Handles marketing of catering events to internal and external groups.
  • Books dates and plans for catering events.
  • Crates menus for catering events and develops pricing for catering events.
  • Prepare and oversees the cooking of food for catering functions.
  • Manages the inventory of food and non-food items for catering.
  • Is responsible for placing food orders needed for catering functions.
  • Prepares, delivers food and equipment to location of events.
  • Plans and schedules for staffing needs related to catering events.
  • Plan and teach nutrition education for students in classroom through demonstrations, and hands on presentations.
  • Work with cafeteria managers if staffing needed for student meal service.
  • Performs other functions as assigned by supervisor.


Marginal functions will vary with the specific assignment and depend on the position function for which the person is responsible.


This position accomplishes most of its tasks by following diversified procedures and exercising a good deal of judgement when necessary.

Internal contacts include Food Services Department personnel, teachers, students, and other school district employees. External contacts include food vendors. This position requires supervision of kitchen employees.


A high school diploma or the equivalent is required, as well as four-six years' experience in the food service industry.

This position requires knowledge of the proper methods of preparing, cooking, handling, and storing of food in quantity and quality.

This position also requires knowledge of proper maintenance and operation of food service equipment and knowledge of health and safety rules pertaining to school establishments.

Previous management or supervisory experience is preferred, along with Servsafe Certification. Requires a PA driver's license and a good driving record.

Pleasant, positive attitude; honesty and integrity; ability to take directions; and be highly responsive.

Must possess good interpersonal skills using tact and diplomacy, must be a team player. The ability to appropriately handle confidential matters is essential. An ability to accurately order supplies and calculate and follow quantity food production recipes is also necessary. Demonstrates ability to use Microsoft Suite office products and position related software.

Keeps current with related technology and developments that impact the department.

  • Makes decisions consistent with the CVSD mission and core values, establishes and maintains effective communication and positive relationships within CVSD.
  • Maintains an optimum relationship and works cooperatively with other staff members by being courteous and always mindful of the importance of confidentiality.
  • Projects a positive image of CVSD and its programs and services.
