- CVOR nurses meticulously prepare the operating room, ensuring that all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are sterile and readily accessible.
- Actively assist the cardiac surgeon during the procedure. They handle instruments, pass sutures, and manage surgical equipment. While also anticipating the surgeon's needs, maintaining a sterile field, and responding promptly to any emergent situations.
- Educate patients and their families about post-operative care, medications, and potential complications.
- Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing BSN degree is preferred.
- Registered Nurse RN Licensure: Must hold a valid and current Connecticut registered nurse licensure.
- Experience: A minimum of 1 year of experience in Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) nursing is required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Cardiac Perioperative and Surgical Service lines or General/Main Operating Room settings.
- BLS or CPR certification: Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross will be accepted.
- Proficiency in practicing according to the recommended standards and guidelines of the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN).
