Job Summary: The Facilities & Safety Coordinator will support Choptank Community Health System's (CCHS) Facilities Director/Safety Officer (FD/SO) in day-to-day operations and long-term planning. This is a full-time non-exempt position.

  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Must have dependable transportation and prepared to utilize it daily for CCHS business.
  • Be able to accommodate a flexible schedule.

Education and Experience:


  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associates degree or equivalent experience.
  • A background in organizational planning and coordination, desired.
  • Three years of experience in administrative duties.
  • Daytoday facilities and safety related operations.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements will be considered.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to push/roll fifty (50) pounds fifty (50) feet and lift twentyfive (25) pounds to a height of thirtysix (36) inches.
  • Bending at the waist, sitting, walking, etc., as job may require.
  • Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the outdoor elements.
  • Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
  • Required to exercise universal precautions by using personal protective equipment and devices.
  • Reasonable anticipation of encountering human blood and other potentially infectious materials.

Duties/Responsibilities:


Administrative Functions:

  • Works with the FD/SO on the development and implementation of new/appropriate operational and safety policies and procedures
  • Ensures that safety policies and procedures adhere to Joint Commission and CCHS standards and regulations
  • Generates and tracks the aging of Work Orders (WO)
  • Dispatches Facilities Maintenance Techs (FMT) for emergency WOs.
  • Supports SMT by organizing WOs for completion on days at site.
  • Supports SMT and Project Managers with daytoday, and longterm planning
  • Ordering maintenance supplies, materials, and repair parts
  • Tracks, logs, and prepares invoices for approval signatures by FD/SO
  • Coordinate system(s) testing and maintenance
  • Maintains access control system
  • Work with Human Resources (HR) for badging and keying of new personnel
Emergency Preparedness

  • Maintains the Incident Response Guide (IRG) and all related policies and procedures
  • Ensures updates and distribution of the IRG occurs
Assists FD/SO with coordinating annual emergency drills

  • Annual fire drills at all CCHS sites
  • Development, documentation, and implementation of annual emergency drills
  • Activation and testing of the Incident Command System (ICS)
  • Assists FD/SO with Environment of Care (EOC) site safety reviews
  • Assists FD/S
