    National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) is the national source for air, space, and cyberspace intelligence. By working with us, youll help discover and characterize the capabilities, limitations, and vulnerabilities of our nations enemies. As a NASIC employee, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team of experts, working together to solve technical challenges. The organizational location of this position: National Air & Space Intelligence Center (NASIC)(HAF/A2/6), Geospatial & Signatures Intelligence Group (GS), Persistent Infrared Analysis Squadron (GSP) Command Section, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.

    You must be a US citizen to be eligible for a position at NASIC, and you must be able/willing to obtain/maintain a Top-Secret security clearance. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed upon hire.

    Responsibilities

    • Leads overhead persistent infrared (OPIR) analytic tradecraft advancement. Manages Squadron functions for the initiation, production, and integration of OPIR for all customers.
    • Coaches and mentors scientific and technical OPIR intelligence analysts in intelligence, scientific, engineering, managerial, and other applicable skills necessary for fulfilling the Squadrons mission. Provides coaching in customer and collaborator applications of OPIR insights, especially in support of NASIC mission management processes to enable S&TI analysis.
    • Provides technical intelligence expertise to the Squadron Commander, analysts, mission partners, and other government agencies on all aspects of OPIR analysis, production, research, and capability development.
    • Represents NASIC as a national subject matter expert on OPIR production, research, and capability development. Provides leadership, guidance, and assistance to NASIC, Air Force, NGA, and other mission partners on OPIR sensor planning, collections, processing, analysis, dissemination, research, and capability development.

    Qualifications

    • Knowledge of OPIR tradecraft, planning, collections, processing, exploitation, dissemination, research, and capability development activities within NASIC, the Air Force, the National System for Geospatial Intelligence, academia, research centers, and industry.
    • Competence, judgment, leadership, and resourcefulness required to develop and implement concepts, principles, and practices for OPIR analysis, along with an understanding of relevant regulations, policies, guidelines, requirements, and initiatives related to infrared sensors and data processing methodologies.
    • Broad knowledge of the intelligence community, Combatant Command, Department of Defense structure, organizations, applicable policies and directives, and mission functions and operations.
    • Broad knowledge of scientific and technical intelligence analyst training and development programs, standards, and approaches applicable to the growth and professionalization of a highly capable OPIR workforce.
    • Ability to apply knowledge to the development of new methods, approaches, and procedures; to quickly and expertly evaluate intelligence reports, briefings, and discussions to determine the relevance of the material to the mission of the Squadron; and to quickly assimilate diverse and disparate data, render accurate assessments, discern critical implications, and make timely recommendations/decisions.
    • Skill in communicating effectively with others, clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing, as well as interact in a professional manner with peers, leadership, contractors, and senior officials in other agencies.
    • Knowledge of intelligence standards, scientific principles, and engineering practices that enable the prioritization, scheduling, collection, processing, exploitation, and dissemination of OPIR intelligence.

    Conditions of Employment

    • All new DCIPS employees are required to complete a two-year DCIPS trial period.
    • Position is designated special-sensitive, and incumbent must be able to obtain and retain a TOP SECRET (TS) security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.
    • PCS expenses are authorized IAW JTR and Air Force Regulations
    • Recruitment incentives may be authorized
    • This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
    • Must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal and Regulatory Guide
    • Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic drug testing.
    • Shift work and emergency overtime may be required
    • Employee must maintain current certifications
    • Disclosure of Political Appointments
    • The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
    • The work is primarily sedentary. Items carried typically include briefcases, notebooks, working papers, references, data print outs, and suitcases. A moderate amount of standing and walking is required in getting to and from meetings and
    • The workspace is adequately heated, lighted, and ventilated. There is occasional noise from office equipment, such as printers, fax machines, and telephones. The employee is required to perform in varying office and meeting environments.
    • The incumbent observes normal safety precautions when working in and travelling away from the work site.
