- Master's Degree in School Social Work
- Must be able to qualify for a Wisconsin DPI license (#7050 School Social Worker)
- Experience in AODA intervention/prevention preferred
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to make reasonable independent judgements and decisions
- Detail oriented and able to organize and prioritize tasks.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
- Adhere to professional standards of respectful, confidential, individualized, developmentally appropriate, and culturally competent practice
- Engaging families through communication and home visits
- Family assistance in finding and utilizing community resources
- Coordination of services for homeless families
- Collaboration with staff and administrators
- Facilitation of educational support groups
- Individual counseling and problem solving
- Advocacy for student access to school and community-based services
- Collaboration with teams in the development of positive behavior intervention plans
- Crisis management and support
- Coordination of student transition to/from community agencies/placements
- Coordination of community resources with school services
- Referrals to community resources
- Advocate for social and economic justice in order to reduce barriers and promote learning
- Address cultural responsiveness and trauma-sensitive practices in order to reduce impact and promote resilience
- Act within and between multiple systems levels to provide a continuum of supports to students and systems with a focus on prevention and wellness promotion
- Assist in district wide behavioral / mental health screening
- Participate in building consultation teams, 504 meetings, and IEP meetings
- Complete social-developmental histories
- Complete threat assessments / suicide screenings
- Complete functional behavioral assessments
- Collaborate with school and district leadership teams (Mental Health Guiding Coalition, Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports)
- Serve as a member of the Student Services team, leading initiatives in truancy and AODA prevention
- Communicate proactively and effectively with teachers and administrators to align practices with the District's vision, mission, graduate profile and strategic plan
- Possess and utilize knowledge of state and federal laws and local school district policy related to school social work practice in order to enhance service delivery and ensure informed practice
