The PlumpJack Collection of Wineries was formed in 2020 as the overarching brand for PlumpJack's collection of Napa Valley Wineries.

Each of our four wineries span the Napa Valley.

Odette Estate located in the revered Stags Leap District gaining notoriety for producing the wine that won in 1973 at the Judgement of Paris.

PlumpJack Winery located in the acclaimed Oakville AVA is home to some of the finest Cabernets in Napa Valley.

CADE Estate Winery on Howell Mountain features unique, higher elevation terrain that produces distinctive characteristics due to its rocky, volcanic soil and cooler climate.

Lastly, our 13th Vineyard is rooted in its history as the 13th bonded winery in California and is located adjacent to CADE Estate on Howell Mountain.

All four feature award-winning estate wines and tasting experiences.


Purpose of this Role:


Responsibilities:


  • Assist in execution of all winery operations with help from Cellar Master and Cellar Workers.
  • Manage quality and professionalism of all cellar operations
  • In conjunction with AWM and brand WM, develop and maintain cellar SOPs to ensure quality steps and risk aversion are built into all production systems and processes.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of cellar operations to ensure quality goals are met or exceeded
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental, safety, and regulatory considerations
  • Accountable for your work and the work of others.
  • Maintain winery safety, OSHA compliance, and SDS records
  • Monitor all outside wine analysis.
  • Perform analysis on juice and wine.

Includes but not limited to the following:
Brix, TA, pH, Malic, Residual Sugar, Wine X-Ray, and VA.

  • Embrace HAP (Honest, Approachable, Passionate) and help develop HAP culture with coworkers
  • Complete the jobs requested by AWM in a timely, safe, and professional manner
  • Operate Forklift and pallet jack as needed for all cellar work.

Harvest:


  • Assist AWM and brand WM in planning all aspects of harvest for the facility.
  • Assist in all harvest activities; crush pad, drain and press, determining press cuts, racking/topping/filling barrels, pump overs, additions, etc.
  • Help manage timing of fermentation additions. Ensure additions are added to juice/wine per SOP's. Communicate with brand Winemakers that additions were added.
  • Monitor fermentations. Check Brix on fermentations daily. Communicate daily Brix readings with all brand Winemakers.
  • Help maintain inventory spreadsheet for barrels and lot tracking
  • Assist with sampling vineyards to determine ripeness.
  • Perform Brix, TA, pH, and Wine X-Ray analysis on grape samples.
  • Assist with sampling of grape and wine lots for chemical analysis.
  • Assist in entering winemaking activities into AMS. Create Work orders in Microsoft excel, enter analysis, additions, etc in excel.
  • Track all wine movements and maintain and inventory spreadsheet in excel.

Bottling:


  • In conjunction with Winemakers, prepare final blends for bottling
  • In conjunction with Winemakers, develop and implement a filtering plan
  • During bottling:
  • Assist in quality control on the bottling line
  • Help oversee bottling crew
  • Help manage bottling supplies (labels, corks, foils, glass, screw caps, case stickers, etc.)
  • Help manage shipping of case goods and glass during bottling
  • Inventory all bottling supplies after bottling is complete.
  • Assist in bottling report and submit to accounting
  • Help make sure all inventory of all bottling supplies and case goods is accurate and input into AMS.

Winery maintenance:


  • Inform winemaker when replacements or repairs are needed
  • Take a sense of ownership and ensure that winery is clean at all times
  • Track chemical inventory

Blend & Comp tastings:


  • Work with Winemakers in identifying quality lots
  • Participate in conducting winemaking/blend trials
  • Assist in pulling lots or gathering wines for tastings
  • Be a vocal part of blending
  • Set up comparative tastings

Clerical/Office:


  • Work order entries into AMS
  • Monthly inventories are accurate
  • Ensure AMS 702's are accurate and completed on a monthly basis
  • Track experiments

Marketing/Sales

  • Attend industry functions as needed
  • Be present at all winery functions; assist with set up for events & tastings
JOB KNOWLEDGE &


EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:
Viticulture &Enology or Food Science degree, 2 plus years industry experience.


WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works indoors and outdoors throughout shift. Extensive facility, varied terrain.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Stands/walks 100% of shift. Works with all wine making equipment. Moderate use of computer, daily. Moderate use of stairs, daily. Must be able to lift 55 pounds.
