ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

***- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential requirement of this position.

  • Strong problem solving skills to determine needed repairs and finishes.
  • Fill cracks, holes and joints with joint compound, putty, caulk, or other fillers as necessary and sanding of applied fillers as necessary
  • Clean, prep and prime walls to ensure proper finish adherence.
  • Cover areas not being painted to insure protection from paint splatter. Tape off areas where needed.
  • Move furniture and equipment as necessary, remove fixtures such as pictures, doorknobs, electric switch covers prior to painting
  • Calculate amounts of required materials and estimated costs
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools and material in performing duties.
  • Purchase quality brushes, roller covers and associated equipment.
  • Work on ladders to reach ceilings and high walls.
  • Utilize spray guns for large jobs.
  • Remove paint splatters when finished, clean up work area, replace items that were moved and clean all painting equipment used.
  • Detect faulty operations or defective material and report those and any unusual situations to your supervisor.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Additional departmental responsibilities/duties as assigned.

Addendum for Essential Functions if Applicable for multiple departments:

  • Must comply with MIOSHA regulations.

Educational / Talent Requirements:

- _Minimum Education required: _High School Diploma or GED preferred or equivalent work experience.

  • Possession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record according to Hope Network policies.
  • Ability to be flexible, work independently, and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to contribute and be part of an effective team.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and composition skills with the ability to multitask.

Work Experience Requirements:


  • At least one year of painting experience necessary.
  • Knowledge of finishes, compounds and equipment necessary to perform painting duties.
  • Basic understanding of carpentry is preferred.
  • Ability to use miscellaneous office equipment (calculators, computers, fax machines, copiers, etc.)

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in verbal and/or written formats to meet position expectations.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with community and agency personnel.
