    Job Summary

    The Program Specialist role, working under the direct supervision of the Scholarship and Donor Relations Manager, requires providing high-level customer service and stewardship to donors. This position also involves operational support for the donor relations program, assisting the scholarship department in the distribution of scholarship funds, and assisting with the maintenance of the Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation scholarship portal. The responsibilities of this role are diverse and require the coordination of special projects, independent decision-making, detail-oriented work, problem-solving, effective communication, and excellent customer service.

    Essential Functions

    40%: Coordinate the donor stewardship program including distributing thank-you notes from students to donors, working with donors and college contacts to review and score student applications, coordinating the annual donor appreciation luncheon, and managing other donor relations projects as assigned.

    30%: Assist in the process of awarding scholarships and monitor the academic progress of students to evaluate their continued eligibility for scholarships.

    20%: Schedule and conduct presentations on scholarship programs for current and prospective students; demonstrate a high level of customer service skills.

    10%: Other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    High School Diploma or GED and three (3) years of program support experience.

    Desired Qualifications

    A. Associates degree or higher or years of experience

    B. Two (2) years of experience coordinating complex projects, activities, and schedules

    C. Two (2) years of experience with cash handling, financial reporting, account reconciliation, auditing, and record keeping

    D. Two (2) years of experience using Microsoft Office programs and/or other database/office productivity software

    E. Two (2) years of experience providing program support in maintaining various internal systems and tracking multiple deliverables in a fast-paced higher education environment.

    Special Working Conditions

    Positions in this class typically require typing, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.

    Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

    Work is routinely performed in an indoor, office environment.
