    Description

    Position Description:

    Financial Analyst is responsible for financial planning, analysis and projections for Capital BlueCross and its subsidiaries. They will also have a role in cost allocations and certain financial reporting.

    The Financial Analyst will leverage their accounting, finance and business experience to assess historical financial data, assist in predicting future results and as well as drive process improvements.

    Responsibilities and Qualifications:
    • Perform financial forecasting, reporting, and operational metrics tracking
    • Reporting on financial performance and preparation for regular leadership reviews
    • Analyze past results, perform variance analysis; identify trends, and make recommendations for improvements
    • Work closely with the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting and decision support
    • Evaluate financial performance by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts
    • Guide cost analysis process
    • Recommend actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses; study proposed changes in methods and materials
    • Identifying and driving process improvements, including the creation of standard and ad-hoc reports and tools
    • Increases productivity by developing automated reporting/forecasting tools

    Skills:

    • Good interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to build productive relationships.
    • Self-starter with the ability to streamline functions and passion to learn and grow
    • Strong fluency with Excel formulas and functions
    • Familiarity with data query/data management tools extremely helpful (Access)
    • Strong financial analysis foundation creating forecasts and models
    • Good interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication skills
    • Comfort dealing with ambiguity and ability to work independently
    • Good analytical and data gathering skills

    Knowledge:

    • Good business acumen
    • Knowledge of financial modeling and techniques

    Experience:

    • 3 years of business finance or other relevant experience

    Education and Certifications:

    • BA, BS or BCom degree preferred (bachelors degree in accounting/finance/economics)

    Location:

    • This position is classified hybrid, which requires onsite work on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

    Physical Demands:

    • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands and fingers, talk, hear, and see. The employee must be able to work over 40 hours per week.
    • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 5 pounds.

    Other:

    • Travel - on an as needed basis for external training
