Summary:
The Purchasing person is responsible for purchasing both production and maintenance supplies, parts, and equipment.

The Purchasing clerk(s) will be instrumental in ensuring that all materials required to manufacture quality biofuel, safely and efficiently, are maintained for uninterrupted production.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Research suppliers and negotiate pricing for potential purchases.
  • Generate purchase orders for American GreenFuels Management team.
  • Attend staff meetings to provide information/updates on order status, inventories, and incoming deliveries.
  • Place orders, monitor scheduled deliveries
  • Forward invoices to Accounts payable via filehold in a timely manner.
  • Manage and administer employee uniform program.
  • Maintain inventory of Office, Maintenance, and Plant consumable supplies.
  • Ability to safety operate Powered Industrial Equipment.
  • Receive and communicate all deliveries to appropriate contact.
  • Visually inspect all types of inventory and maintain physical inventory on a periodic basis.
  • Implement improvements to the receiving and inventory control process.
  • Assist Plant Manager and Plant Management team as needed.
  • Maintains accurate records and prepares reports on a timely basis.
  • Notifies appropriate personnel regarding any issues or concerns.
  • Source and procure a variety of materials, including office supplies, equipment, raw materials, outside manufacturing processing, finished goods, and products essential for company operations.
  • Assess supplier performance and foster strong relationships with key suppliers.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to comprehend their purchasing needs and specifications.
  • Monitor inventory levels according to established plans and procedures, and initiate orders to replenish stock on a Lean basis as necessary.
  • Coordinate with logistics providers to ensure prompt delivery of goods.
  • Prepare purchase orders, maintain a roster of preferred suppliers, and generate routine and adhoc reports as needed.
  • Solicit quotes, negotiate delivery terms, and potentially identify new supply sources.
  • Scrutinize and approve the technical and administrative content of purchasing documentation.
  • Maintain computerized procurement records, documenting items or services purchased, costs, delivery details, product quality or performance, and inventories.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Efficient and accurate administrative skills, able to execute procurement function.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, collaborate and interact with internal teams and external suppliers.

  • Basic mechanical and electrical understanding.

  • Understanding of safety requirements, and able to respond to hazards and take appropriate precautions.
  • Understanding of EPA, DOT, OSHA, and other federal and state regulations commonly associated with biodiesel manufacturing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education Level: High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Experience (years and *environment): 2 years
  • Experience with computerized systems (i.e. MS Office Suite) and ability to utilize company specific systems.
  • Solid knowledge of procurement processes, including sourcing, negotiation, and supplier management, BQ9000 preferred.
  • Environment: Experience in a process plant environment, preferably in chemicals, biofuels, or petrochemical production.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk
  • Must be able to access and navigate Plant out buildings, at times standing on concrete floor.
  • Occasional pushing, pulling, and/or reaching above the shoulders.
  • Frequently carrying, lifting, and/or moving up to 50lbs unassisted.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various climates and possible harsh conditions.
  • Ability to climb ladders and steps to reach equipment.

Pay:
From $18.57 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

  • Desktop administration: 3 years (preferred)
  • Purchasing: 2 years (preferred)
