CLASS TITLE:
Database Manager


BASIC FUNCTION:


Under the supervision of the Technology Director, the Database Manager shall manage and support the school's student information, with a focus on the Infinite Campus system.

The Database Manager will be responsible for managing the Student Information System (SIS) SQL databases, writing SSRS reports, and creating SSIS packages.

The Database Manager's primary task shall be to work closely with the Technology, Attendance, Counseling, Special Education, Health, Food Services, Transportation and Discipline Offices to ensure the school's core SIS system functions are performed completely, correctly and on time.


SIS functions include, but are not limited to:
admissions, enrollment, rostering, grading, reporting, and demographic data.

This position will also strategically manage, create, and perform SIS yearly and end of term tasks such as close of the year, setup of the new year, report card and transcript generation.

The role also involves regular training and assistance to teachers.


REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:


Essential Duties

  • Oversee the daytoday operations of the SIS and serve as the technical point of contact for the entire school.
  • Serves as the point of contact between the School and SIS vendor tech support (open support cases, troubleshooting, submit enhancement requests, etc.).
  • Assist in the preparation of written materials (i.e., procedures, system level documentation, reports, memos, letters, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
  • Ensure the SIS is running smoothly at the start of the year and throughout the year; update settings as needed.
  • Update grade scales in the SIS according to the school assessment policy review.
  • Assist in creating user accounts, management of passwords, and establishment of permissions for district user accounts to include personnel, student accounts, parents, contracted workers, etc.
  • Generate and upload data files required for state, federal and thirdparty data systems.
  • Maintain communication and work in a collaborative manner with all district staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the IT Director.
Start & End of School Year

At the end of the academic year (mid-June) and before the start of the new year (mid-August), perform the following:

  • Prepare SIS for student rollover (add terms and student information for next year, etc.).
  • Set up master schedules in SIS.
  • Verify accuracy and update courses, course credits, course grade scales, standards, GPA points, teachers, coteachers, course sections.
  • Enroll students in courses, and process student schedule changes as requested by administration.
Data Management

  • Implement and maintain export scripts, plugins and API between the SIS and thirdparty tools and databases.
  • Build and create custom exports (PowerBI, PDF, CSV, etc.) for anyone who may need data reports of other systems (college database, School Administration reports, CALPADS, etc.).
  • Create and maintain custom fields of data in accordance with the School's needs.
  • Maintain documentation of all custom tasks, scripts, tools and processes used with the SIS.
Transcripts & Report Card

  • Maintain and update Report Card templates for every curriculum at the school
  • Generate and store transcripts at the end of each term.
  • Assist the College Counselling Department in fulfilling Records such as Report Cards, and Unofficial/Official Transcript Request for Parents, Students and other educational institutions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Five (5) years of database administration; Possess a bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science, Management of Information Systems.


LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Valid California driver's license.
