Under the administrative direction of the Deputy District Director of Administration (DDDA), the Discipline Services Manager, a Staff Services Manager I (SSM I) (Specialist) provides detailed advice and technical guidance to managers and supervisors regarding complex and sensitive disciplinary issues, policy implementation, and employee progressive discipline.

Establishes internal policies and procedures and implements same to ensure activities are performed consistent with departmental program goals.

The Discipline Services Manager assists with and performs investigations involving ethics and other claims/complaints; ensures timeliness of investigations and delivery; ensures that the highest legal and ethical standards are met; and may represent the District as settlement authority in administrative law hearings.

Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Staff Services Manager I Exam.

For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.

Working Conditions


Position located in Marysville, Yuba County

  • When incumbent is not teleworking and at their base of operations, the incumbent will work in a climatecontrolled office under artificial lighting; however, due to unexpected heating and air conditioning problems, building temperature may fluctuate.

The incumbent will be required to travel to field office locations and work-sites throughout the district to conduct meetings, consultations and/or investigative questioning.

Occasional night work, and overnight travel will be required.
