Curves Coach Job Description

Job Summary:

The Curves Coach reports to the manager and is responsible for helping members build a healthy lifestyle; guiding members toward their goals, supporting them each step of the way and celebrating every victory.

Coaches are expected to meet all performance expectations, service standards, and operational procedures. Coaches must be motivated by a commission-based pay structure.


Service:

Service is the cornerstone of our organization.

Coaches spend much of their time on the fitness circuit coaching members, making sales presentations and providing weight loss consultations.

He/she will assist with brand confidence by ensuring safety, promoting member engagement, and making outgoing calls to members and guests.

They inspire members to change their lives through positive reinforcement of goals, motivation and genuinely celebrating success.


Performance of service focused tasks includes:
Encourage members to exercise consistently, often exercising with them. Maintain member engagement through motivating, energetic, approachable, polite, compassionate, and encouraging coaching.
Conducting Coaching Sessions, review/set new goals, participate in promotions.
Completing outgoing MIA calls and customer checks.
Completing the paperwork and process for membership agreements.
Coaches may be needed to assist in emergency situations by thinking on their feet, calling
911 and/or administering first aid/CPR. CPR certification required.

Curves coaches must believe in the Curves program and have a passion for helping others meet their fitness and/or weight loss goals.

Possess knowledge of the circuit exercises, ability to follow scripts and have credibility to explain exercises and movements to members.

Understand and explain target heart rate zones. Training will be provided by Curves.
Provide oneonone coaching and instruction for workouts and specialty classes as needed. Ensure safety of members on the circuit.


Sales/Membership:

Curves maintains an approximate 80% sales rate which means eight out of every ten guests become members. Team members are responsible and accountable for making sales presentations and consultations to potential members.

The sales process includes evaluating the needs and goals of the potential member, explaining the prices and overcoming objections, obtaining referrals and completing membership agreements.

Confirm appointments; follow-up with no shows and no sales.
Memorize phone script and price presentations.
Responsible for upgrading member programs and presenting and selling additional products
to meet member fitness and diet needs.
Enter all member transaction information into Curves Operating System.


Traits of a Curves coach which will increase commission pay may include: enthusiasm, cheerfulness, the ability to anticipate the needs of others, attention to detail, and being pro-active.

Believe in the Curves programs and have passion for helping others meet fitness goals and/or lose weight.


Guest Production:

Curves relies on both internal and external marketing to produce new guests. Each staff member is required to participate in guest production activities which may include marketing outside the club.
Schedule appointments for all incoming calls and walk-ins.
Schedule appointments for potential members & reschedule any missed appointments.
Acquire membership referrals, meet daily quota of one referral per shift.


Administrative/Other:

Responsible for seeking self-development through in-person and online training. Meetings and trainings include pre-work, actively participating in role playing and skill building exercises, and passing all certifications.
Complete administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, phone.
Comply with company policies and procedures regarding standards of dress, attendance, timeliness, and professionalism.
Light cleaning such as vacuuming, dusting, cleaning equipment, mats and restrooms.


Education and/or Experience:
(TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED.)
Customer service experience.
Basic computer skills.
Retail, sales and/or fitness industry experience preferred. Not required.
Nationally accredited current fitness certification, preferred, but not required (ACE, AFFA, ACSM, NSCA).
