SUMMARY:

The Property Accountant is responsible for accounting functions related to commercial real estate properties and corporate entities.

This position reports to the Controller and will have daily interaction with property managers, property owners, vendors, and executive management.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearend financial statements/reporting packages.
  • Perform a wide variety of accounting analyses.
  • Analyze various transactions and identify appropriate coding.
  • Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
  • Reconcile monthly bank statements to the general ledger.
  • Record and process accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Monitor and review accounts payable coding for accuracy.
  • Process cash receipts and prepare bank deposits.
  • Prepare common area maintenance and real estate tax reconciliations.
  • Monitor daily cash balances and anticipate future cash deficiencies.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual operating budgets.
  • Prepare timely receipt & input of vendor invoices into A/P automation software.
  • Assist with general ledger & client billing reconciliations.
  • New property setup, analysis, and followup of outstanding issues as required.
  • Assist management with special projects and other tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain open communication with the accounting team and property managers.

Experience and Skills:


  • Understanding of all balance sheet accounts and producing monthly financial statements and supplementary reporting as required.
  • Organizational/multitasking: ability to allocate one's time effectively, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines; ability to handle multiple demands and competing priorities; ability to prioritize workload; ability to work at a detailed level; willingness to learn in a dynamic environment that includes new ideas and change.
  • Relationship Skills: ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written; ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships; team player.
  • Knowledge of Yardi Genesis, Yardi Voyager, Rent Manager, AvidXchange, QuickBooks, and MRI/Sage are a plus.
  • Understanding of Debits/Credits and intercompany relationships.
  • Ability to adapt to new challenges and responsibilities.
  • Ambitious, selfmotivated, and thrive in a highly professional environment with strong process and internal control.

WORK SCHEDULE:
The work week is typically Monday through Friday, with business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The pay range for this position is $55,000 to $75,000 yearly.
