SUMMARY


Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in production related activities; ensures efficient and safe operation in accordance to standard operating procedures.

In the absence of the production supervisor, carries out temporary managerial responsibilities in accordance with company policy.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Model professional behavior that demonstrates the TST Core values in the areas of cando attitude, passion, do the right thing, improvement, hard working/committed, professionalism, and teamwork.
  • Promotes a strong safety culture within work crew; ensures employees are properly trained, enforces safety rules, and provides the necessary tools to perform work safely.
  • Ensures proper training and onboarding of new employees.
  • Promotes open and positive communication within work crew, motivates employees, creates an environment of trust, and maintains a high employee retention rate.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Executes all tasks and functions of his/ her area in accordance with production schedules and customer specification.
  • Examines materials and products delivered and reports discrepancies to Supervisor.
  • Observes machines and equipment in his /her area and reports malfunction or performs adjustments or repairs if possible.
  • Assigns workers to specific workstation of to individual tasks as necessary.
  • Makes the best use of equipment and other tools to meet production schedules as efficiently as possible.
  • Reports employee issues to supervisors and assists with investigation as necessary.
  • Enters production data and completes daily records related to production and employees in his/her area.
  • Requests materials and supplies necessary to conduct his/her job.
  • Fillin for absent Supervisor and performs production activities of in case of absences.
  • Completes accident investigation and property damage reports that occur.
  • Responsible for overall performance of his crew.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Management.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus three years of experience leading a team in a manufacturing environment.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and employee well being.
  • Must have a demonstrated commitment to ethical behavior.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written) to all levels of employees/leadership.
  • Ability to read, interpret documents; write routine reports and correspondence in English.
  • Able to work extended hours on short notice and work on other shifts as needed.
  • Sound decision making ability.
  • Must exhibit strong leadership skills, selfmotivated, proactive, punctual, and safety minded.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Computer proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing normal duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands frequently. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception to read instruments, operate material handling equipment and identify plant color code system.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions, extreme heat, and vibration. Also, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles.
