    We are looking for an experienced data science professional in the greater Baltimore metropolitan area who is willing and able to work in a hybrid model.

    The incumbent will be expected to work a portion of their week from home and a portion of their week at a CareFirst location based on business needs and work activities/deliverables that week.

    The Data Science Associate identifies and solves business problems by using various numerical techniques, algorithms, and models in statistical modeling, machine learning, operations research, and data mining.

    Uses advanced analytical capabilities to support data science initiatives.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    Mines and extracts data and applies algorithms to derive insights.
    Explores data to understand the data profile and its limitations.
    Assists business units in the innovation of organizational performance.


    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education Level:


    Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
    Ability to work with minimal guidance.
    Ability to communicate effectively and document objectives and procedures.
    Fundamental knowledge in model evaluation, tuning and performance, operationalization, and scalability of scientific techniques.
    Understands fundamentals of software engineering principles and practices.
    Foundation in statistical modeling applications.

    Licenses/Certifications:
    Certified Data Professional Upon Hire Required.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
    The associate is primarily seated while performing the duties of the position. Occasional walking or standing is required.
