    Description

    Summary



    This position is located within the Engineering Service at the Bay Pines VA Healthcare System in Bay Pines, FL. The purpose of the position is to perform difficult welding functions in a manner that prevents distortion or burning of metals; and meets weld dimension, tolerance, strength, and other requirements.



    Duties


    Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Performs difficult welding functions that include a range of gas welding torch processes that must be adjusted due to the fact that metals to be welded react differently.
    • Controls the metals being welded and the welding techniques to prevent distortion or burning of the metals; and to meet weld dimension, tolerance, strength, and other requirements.
    • Uses accepted trade methods and a variety of manual welding processes such as several different gas torch processes, various electric arc processes including inert gas shielded ones, or a number of both kinds of processes, to weld all types of commonly used metals and. alloys of various sizes, shapes, and thicknesses, including dissimilar metals such as copper to steel.
    • Performs welding in all positions including flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead.
    • Ensures that all complete penetration, as well as complete fusion of base and filler metals, is accomplished.
    • Performs shop functions as assigned to include ordering supplies, performing basic preventative maintenance tasks, providing documentation support, and cleaning tools and shop space.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.
    Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm
