Job description

Position Description:

The TIA Assessment Specialist will play a critical role in expanding strategic compensation across the region. One of the major components of this work involves supporting LEAs in the technical identification and implementation of various assessment systems for both TIA and ETIA. Specifically, the TIA Assessment Specialist will engage directly with identified districts to provide expert knowledge in Student Learning Objectives (SLOs), vendor Pre/Post test, District-created assessments,  and Value-Added Models (VAMs) to accurately measure and impact student growth. The Specialist will also lead expansion efforts into specialized areas such as CTE, Special Programs, and Non-Foundational/Core Electives to ensure comprehensive system coverage. The TIA Assessment Specialist will support the technical requirements within the TIA Regional Support Grant, as well as provide other on-demand/wrap-around services to help districts with specific assessment and data-related needs.

Objectives of the TIA Regional Support Grant Include:

  • Increase the number of districts with TIA systems
  • Increase the percentage of teachers eligible to earn TIA designations within local systems
  • Increase success rates with TIA implementation and data validation
  • Increase retention for TIA designated teachers  

Job Qualifications

    Education/Certification:

  • Master's degree
  • Valid Texas teaching license

    Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Experience in instructional leadership, data analysis, and coaching
  • Experience in designing and leading professional development
  • Experience planning with curriculum and instruction
  • Experience Data Management Systems
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Strong long-term planning and project management skills, including establishing outcomes, determining evaluative measures, and tracking progress
  • Outstanding interpersonal, teamwork, and management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Results orientation coupled with a strong work ethic and excellent organization, coordination, and time management skills
  • Flexibility and comfort with ambiguity

      Experience:

  • Minimum of three years of experience as a campus administrator preferred
  • Prior experience working with TIA, specifically, curriculum and assessment
  • Prior experience engaging with Data Management Systems  

      Essential Duties:

  • Provide leadership in the design, development, and implementation of a robustystem Identification: Support LEAs in the selection and implementation of diverse assessment systems required for TIA/ETIA compliance.
  • Student Growth Modeling: Utilize specific knowledge and experience in SLOs and VAMs to help districts develop rigorous processes for tracking and impacting student growth.
  • Curriculum Expansion: Provide expert guidance on integrating non-traditional teaching assignments into the TIA framework, specifically focusing on CTE, Special Education, and Electives.
  • District Engagement: Work directly with district leadership and data teams to ensure assessment tools are valid, reliable, and aligned with state expectations.
  • Technical Assistance: Deliver wrap-around services and specialized support to address any TIA-related assessment challenges or implementation hurdles.

Travel: Frequent Travel within the region, state, and nation when appropriate

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including a personal computer and peripherals

Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Repetitive hand motions, including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching

Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)

Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent districtwide travel; occasional statewide travel and out-of-state travel

Manage multiple tasks and work cooperatively with others

Maintain a calm attitude in demanding situations

Make changes and adapt to varying responsibilities on an ongoing basis

Work with frequent interruptions, tight deadlines, and limited office space

  • ESC Region 12 provides monetary contributions of up to $575 per month to use for employee/family healthcare and supplemental benefits.
