The
Quality Assurance Associate provides support to Operations Management and Sales Account Managers by creating and maintaining documentation pertaining to EHS requirements and customer requests, improving quality systems, and building a culture of standardization and consistency in compliance and document control.


This position is located at the Northstar Chemical location in Santa Fe Springs, CA and requires travel of approximately three trips per year.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

With guidance from Operations Management, the employee must be able to perform the following duties, including but not limited to:

  • Develop new and maintain existing product documentation (product certifications & registrations, product statement documents, product specifications, safety data sheets, etc.) and procedures pertaining to compliance to EHS requirements, sustainability initiatives and customer requests.
  • Lead and implement effective Document Control with an effective change process for documents, maintaining electronic documents in SharePoint and communicating with work groups when changes occur.
  • Develop new and maintain existing quality and EHS training materials and associated training records. Maintain the training matrix to track overall training status for Operations employees.
  • Manage the incident reporting system including master list of incidents, completeness of incident reports, assignment and tracking of corrective actions to completion, and analysis of incident data to identify and communicate trends to focus improvement efforts.
  • Manage safety metrics and data reporting, including maintaining data and information in third party supplier information management databases.
  • Coordinate and conduct periodic facility audits to ensure compliance to EHS and quality standards.
  • Identify and drive improvements in quality systems by implementing procedures and training and validating the usage and effectiveness at each facility.
  • Submit reports to regulatory agencies and maintain data and information in supplier information management databases (ie. ISNet, etc)

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree preferred, preferably in EHS or a science related discipline, or equivalent qualifications and work experience in EHS and Quality Systems.
  • Minimum of one year of experience using quality systems and developing SOPs in a manufacturing or distribution environment, preferably chemicals.
  • Strong technical writing capability including experience creating SOPs for quality and operations.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining certifications such as ISO 9002, ISO 14001, NACD, etc. is a plus.
  • Exceptional time management skills, ability to demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving abilities. Ability to prioritize in a dynamic environment, and respond quickly to time critical requests.
  • Excellent Computer skills' including proficiency in Microsoft Office. Strong data analysis capability using MicroSoft Excel.
