Position Essential Duties and Attributes:


  • Directs the company's accounting and financial activities and is responsible for quality assurance for these functions.
  • Prepares monthly and yearend financial statements and operating reports with accuracy and and timeliness.
  • Maintain account reconciliations relative to the Balance Sheet
  • Review of trial balance and balance sheets at monthend
  • Analyze expenses and monthly trends.
  • Review and prepare monthend closing.
  • Preparation, review, and control of journal entries and postings to the general ledger.
  • Train and mentor, an Accounting/Office Staff of 7 employees
  • Coordinate with accounting staff and other departments to ensure accurate, timely financial statements.
  • Review and make recommendations on improving internal controls to improve financial condition.
  • Yearend financial review. Prepare year end work papers and coordinate with outside auditing firm to complete the annual review.
  • Communicate with our outside tax accounting firm to provide estimated book earnings so that income tax payments can be calculated.
  • Prepare monthend financial reports including Balance Sheet, P&L, Gross Profit analysis and an analytical review for owners.
  • Review general & liability insurance to insure adequate coverage is maintained.
  • Work as a team player with other staff and communicate in a professional and courteous manner with coworkers and customers alike.
  • Has excellent communication skills and demonstrates leadership in team building and motivation.
  • Has proven ability to motivate people, instill accountability, and achieve results.
  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic and business acumen.
  • Accepts new challenges and responsibilities with enthusiasm.
  • Has a calm and mature style among peers and subordinates.
  • Manages Accounting department including A/P and A/R as well as a staff accountant.
  • Is proficient with integrated accounting software, report writers, and MS Office Suite.
  • Has a strong knowledge of GAAP and FASB pronouncements.


  • EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 10 + years' experience in wholesale distribution, including inventory control and managing the general ledger.
  • 5 years of highlevel supervisory experience.
  • Ability to direct and coordinate the activities of managers and staff in all administrative areas; and to communicate effectively verbally, in writing, and graphically, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to work as a key member of the firm's management team with a focus on maintaining the firm's financial and cultural health.
