_Preschool Teacher (EEC Certified)_


We are looking for a nurturing, creative, and passionate individual to join our team now through August 23 This is a temporary position offering 40 hours per week all summer. If you are excited about nature, music, art, and learning - we encourage you to apply.

As a temporary Summer Teacher, you will work in our preschool classroom with a team of educators who are friendly and flexible.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise, engage with and enjoy the children
• Implement playbased curriculum in coordination with classroom teachers
• Lead by example through modeling and coaching
• Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met
• Ensure a healthy classroom environment including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children
• Assist with classroom duties such as snack preparation and clean up, classroom tidying, washing art supplies, stocking consumables, etc.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• EEC teacher certification preferred
• Strong communication skills
• High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment
• Must clear full background check before beginning to work in classroom

Wage Range and Benefits_

Up to $20 - $21 per hour


Open Center for Children is a small, independent, play-based, early education and care program located near Tufts University/Davis Square and convenient to public transportation.

Physical Requirements_

• Ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid
• Ability to see and read newsprint, with or without corrective lenses
• Ability to speak and be understood under normal circumstances
• Ability to lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 50 pounds
• Ability to use arms, hands, legs, and feet, with or without corrective devices; this includes the ability to evacuate the building during emergencies
• Ability to respond immediately to emergency situations
