Description

Overview:
-
Mission_

Cypress House Bakery seeks to provide hope, employment, vocational training, educational opportunities, and support to previously incarcerated men and women wanting to work toward positive change, allowing them to redirect their lives and enhance their contributions to our communities.

-
Essential Responsibilities_

Cypress House Bakery (CHB) in downtown Scranton, Pennsylvania will offer 18-month apprenticeships to formerly incarcerated individuals using Homeboy Bakery of Los Angeles, California as a prototype.

CHB hopes to foster an important shift away from how society treats the previously incarcerated.

The Operations Manager of our soon-to-open bakery will assist initially in overseeing renovations to the bakery kitchen. Once open, the Operations Manager (OM) will work closely with the apprentices in ascertaining educational and social needs. The OM will consult with inter-disciplinary agencies to develop an individualized, trauma-informed, client-centered treatment plan.

This person will supervise the Bakery Instructor and oversee purchases of bakery supplies, educational materials, uniforms, equipment, and other essential resources.

A strategic plan will be developed with the Bakery Instructor to market the baked goods in a way that drives business growth.

Perhaps most importantly, this person will be able to develop and maintain an environment of trust, diversity, and inclusion within the operations team.
