- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (Required). Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering(Preferred)
- Master's degree in technical discipline equivalent to 1 year of experience.
- PhD in technical discipline equivalent to 2 years' experience.
- In lieu of above, 5 years or more in Engineering, Maintenance, Outage or Plant Operations experience. (Required)
- Experience will determine the position/title and are listed below in the POSITION section.
- Experience performing pipe stress evaluations and piping support evaluations at a nuclear power plant are preferred for this position.
- No certifications/license are required.
- Texas Professional Engineering License is preferred.
- Prepare work packages in accordance with STP Planner's Guide and support the associated field installations and craft activities to ensure technical requirements are met.
- Interface with Engineering, Maintenance, Operations and other departments to ensure the design, material and required support is available and correct to implement assigned scope.
- Perform duties as Field Engineer for work groups implementing design changes to the station.
- Ensure personnel qualifications are maintained through training and individual development.
- Investigate and analyze assigned conditions to determine cause(s) and remedial/corrective action(s) to prevent recurrence. Evaluate corrective action(s) proposed by others for appropriateness, applicability, and technical adequacy.
- Monitor department and contractor activities for compliance with applicable codes, standards, quality assurance and other requirements
- Perform duties of Contract Technical Coordinator as assigned, including requisition of personnel, monitoring of performance and providing all necessary oversight to assure compliance with station requirements.
- Evaluate and improve work control process.
- Revise / enhance station procedures as assigned.
- Provide input to and assist in the development of task estimates, schedules and budgets.
- Provide technical presentations to an audience that ranges from Craft personnel to Station Management
- Perform Project Management responsibilities on assigned projects, including development of budgets and schedules, readiness evaluations, project execution and closure.
- Develop input for Division / Department budget and business planning in area of expertise.
- Maintain extensive station knowledge of systems, processes or programs that are critical to the success of the station.
- Maintain contact with outside agencies and industry peers to ensure STPNOC is meeting the standards for excellence within assigned programs.
- Independently manage the stations processes and programs as assigned.
- Accept ERO position as assigned and be able to meet the time response requirements.
- Accept outage position as assigned.
- Ability to maintain qualifications for unescorted access to the South Texas Project Electric Generating Station and to serve as a member of the ERO, as assigned.
- Ability to meet position specific training requirements including completion of Engineering Support Personnel (ESP) orientation and the Field Engineering Qualification Record.
- Ability to monitor and assess project activities in all areas of the plant.
- Maintain knowledge of company, station, department procedures and policies.
- Ability to communicate effectively, in a professional manner (both oral and written).
- General knowledge of planning, scheduling or project management concepts.
- Ability to use, or learn to use, site computer management systems and software for development, issue and maintenance of work documents and reports.
- Ability to review calculations and field engineering evaluations utilizing math, algebra and geometry.
- Ability to identify tasks necessary to successfully complete assigned project.
- Ability to accept responsibility for section activities and complete commitments by established due dates.
- Ability to be flexible and organized in the face of rapidly changing priorities and job assignments.
- Ability to manage contractor work activities.
- Ability to lead others in the completion and coordination of day to day tasks.
- Ability to perform assignments with minimal close supervisory direction, completing duties without constant task assignment or requests to undertake new tasks.
- Maintain extensive station knowledge of plant systems, processes or programs that are critical to the success of the station.
- Maintain contact with outside agencies and industry peers to ensure STPNOC is meeting the standards for excellence within assigned programs.
- Work overtime and shift schedules as required.
- Ability to don normal industrial safety protective equipment and radiological protective clothing.
- Subject to call outs.
- Carry duty pager on a rotational basis, subject to call outs 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
