Major Responsibilities:

  • Performs clerical functions on the patient care unit and/or other patient care areas as assigned
  • Assembles patient records.
  • Files and documents patient information, i.e. Laboratory and X-ray reports.
  • Keeps records up-to date, in order and supplied with appropriate forms.
  • Transcribes physician orders accurately and timely.

Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:

Required:

  • High School diploma/GED

Preferred:

  • Medical Assistant certification preferred
  • Classes in medical terminology preferred

Experience/Skills:

Required:

  • Computer skills required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated prioritization and organizational skills
  • Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions
OR equivalent combination of the above


Preferred:

  • Experience in a hospital or health care setting preferred
  • Experience with Meditech computer system preferred


Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
