Position Description

  • The HMS MMSc-Med Ed Program Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the delivery of a two-year master's program. The program currently operates as a live virtual program, and the Program Coordinator will handle various operational aspects related to delivering a virtual master's program. Additionally, the program is experimenting with some optional on-campus learning experiences that the coordinator will oversee, involving intricate event planning skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Schedule Meetings
  • Responsible for organizing team, faculty committee, and program-related meetings/social gatherings with students. Will also schedule additional meetings as required.


  • Plan Events

  • Lead all event planning and coordination for two in-person on-campus learning experiences for students and program graduation events. Arrange and schedule speakers for academic and professional development sessions during the experiences. Organize off-campus social events and Boston sightseeing activities. Coordinate classroom bookings and catering for meals during experiences. For graduation events, plan and execute on-campus Harvard graduation events alongside the HMS Graduate Education team. Organize virtual team-building events as necessary.
  • Support Course Delivery on Canvas
  • Assist in the development, delivery, and assessment of program courses on Canvas. Collaborate with teaching faculty on Canvas course sites and assist faculty/Teaching Fellows with updates. Coordinate with HMS IT to ensure courses are transferred each semester and verify all links, including Zoom links, are functional for course meetings.


  • Manage Data Entry

  • Monitor all student thesis forms and update/input data for individual student thesis milestones in the my.harvard student information system.

Basic Qualifications

  • Requires 4 or more years of experience, with higher education counting towards the required experience.

Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Relevant work experience in administrative support, program support, event coordination, or customer service
  • Experience with Zoom & Canvas (or similar LMS platform) is advantageous
  • Previous experience working with graduate students is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Interest in Education is beneficial
  • Ability to work independently, display initiative, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a proactive and positive customer service approach

This is a part-time position requiring 17.5 hours (.5 FTE) per week.

  • While the position is Boston-based, remote work may be primary. Remote work must comply with Harvard's registered business states (CA*, CT, GA, IL, MA, MD, ME, NH, NJ, NY, RI, VA, VT, and WA). Flexible and remote work options will be discussed during the interview process. *Note: California-based Harvard employees must be exempt.
