Description

Under the direction of the Deputy Director of Training, collaborates with all relevant Cook County agencies to determine the training needs and priorities of those supported by the Department of Emergency Management and Regional Security (EMRS) through its training initiatives - focusing specifically on National Incident Management System (NIMS).

Supervises; coordinates; plans; and oversees large-scale training exercises involving multiple jurisdictions and locations.

Coordinates, collaborates and may supervise internal and external departmental training personnel to include working with and potentially supervising other staff, both internal and external to the Department.

Assists in the supervision, coordination, planning and oversight of the development and execution of a long-range; multi-year; multi-agency multi-jurisdictional training and exercise program.

Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree.


OR

  • Current/honorable discharge from military duty in a related Military Occupational Specialty (MOS).

OR

  • Five (5) years of fulltime work experience in Emergency Management, Sworn Fire Service, Sworn Law Enforcement or Emergency Medical Services.

PLUS

  • Two (2) years of fulltime work experience instructing, training and/or coordinating training programs in Emergency Management; the Fire Service; Law Enforcement; Emergency Medical Services; Public Health; or in the military in a related MOS.
  • Must meet all training requirements as required by the EMRS, Cook County and Granting Agencies within one year of hire.
