Description

The Assistant Roadmaster is an at-will position governed by the Massachusetts Coastal Railroad (MCRR) Employee Handbook, NORAC, Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), and any other applicable rules and regulations in effect.

All work at Mass Coastal is performed in accordance with FRA, industry, and company standards and guidelines, procedures, and specifications.

Mass Coastal offers completed and detailed training for this position, as well as the opportunity for professional growth and advancement.

Operating in a safe manner will take place over any other job function. This position reports to the Maintenance-of-Way (MOW) Roadmaster.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Coordinate and plan ordinary maintenance and program track work with other departments to maximize track work and train operations.
Perform track inspections and monitor track inspectors to ensure quality inspections and safe train operations.
Follow and monitor work practices along with safety related issues to improve quality and performance.
Monitor and enforce FRA compliance along with company policies, rules and standards.
Work with local, county and state agencies on railroad issues to create and continue harmonious relations.
Plan and provide information for future track improvements with Roadmaster and Dir of Engineer.
Oversee program teams and third party work being performed on territory.
Manage labor, tools and materials for field forces to perform track maintenance.
Work will be performed in multiple locations in MA including Wareham, Rochester, and Onset.
