UPPER SCHOOL MATHEMATICS INSTRUCTOR
Laguna Blanca School is a college preparatory, coeducational day school located on two campuses in Santa Barbara, California.

Grades EK-4 are located on a bucolic campus in Montecito, while Grades 5-12 are located on Laguna's historic campus in Hope Ranch.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a member of the Mathematics Department, attending departmental meetings, developing and updating course curricula, and supporting the work of the department.
  • Serve as a member of the applicable gradelevel team(s) of teachers meeting on a regular basis to plan, and coordinate student support in alignment with the mission of the school.
  • Perform other nonteaching duties as assigned by the Upper School Division Head and the Head of School.
  • Communicate progress and concerns with tact and professionalism to parents and, as appropriate, other faculty, staff, and/or Division Heads.
  • Maintain required documentation for individual student files, attendance and incident reports, and other necessary records.
  • Perform related tasks such as serving as an advisory or sponsoring student clubs.

  • Familiarity with mastery, competency, and/or skillsbased assessment.
  • Experience with differentiation & scaffolding.
  • Familiarity with posting resources, feedback, and assignments to LMS in a timely manner.
  • Experience providing frequent, constructive, objective, and prompt feedback to students.
  • Significant experience with collegial collaboration, a growth mindset, and ongoing PD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Creative analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage and guide the class environment.
  • Proficient with Google Suite for Education, Microsoft Office Suite, or related software.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Ability to teach a variety of Upper School Math classes, with the ability to teach up through Calculus preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or related field; Master's Degree highly preferred.
  • Ongoing maintenance of all requirements regarding professional courses and inservices required.
  • Prior teaching experience is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of the current theories, techniques, and methodologies of Mathematics and other STEM fields.
  • We require a person with a passion for teaching young people.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to traverse school facilities and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency.

COMPENSATION


The Salary range for this role is based on a full-time salary range of $52,000 - $110,000 depending on experience and credentials.

Should the position be part time the salary will be prorated based on a full time salary. Benefits include medical, dental, vision and retirement.
