Principle Accountabilities:


  • Develop and maintain efficient physical database models and identify/resolve data structure issues to meet both Corporate and plant business requirements.
  • Provide and manage support for database systems and services to ensure data is available 24x7, which includes maintenance, capacity planning, data recovery and structural and data integrity.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of project methodology to report and prioritize work to ensure all tasks and projects are completed in a timely manner and meet the business groups' needs.
  • Knows and follows policies and procedures of the company, shares information that would benefit other members of the team and finds ways to improve the delivery of service to our customers.
  • Strives to continually strengthen PCA's business philosophy of meeting needs and exceeding expectation for customers, specifically, supporting PCA's Commitment to Service, which involves doing what's right for our customers, focusing on strategies that add value and support growth, and keeping the promises that we make.

Decision Making:

The Database Administrator is required to make independent decisions based on sound industry practices and existing corporate regulations. The Database Administrator is expected to drive performance of the team to meet his/her project goals.

The Database Administrator is expected to take general directions, and from those directions make decisions as to his/her approach to completing assigned projects, and is expected to determine how to operate and conduct assigned tasks within the established standards and procedures.


Interactions with Customers and Contacts

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related degree
  • Multiyear work experience of system development with Oracle 12C or higher running in a Client Server environment. Strong database optimization, troubleshooting and performance tuning skills are required.
  • Technical skills require knowledge of a variety of technologies including RDBMS, specifically, Oracle along with Oracle RAC architecture, database partitioning, Oracle Active Data Guard, Oracle RMAN, LINUX and Windows, SQL and PL/SQL relevant to the database environment including a basic understanding of TCP/IP networking protocol. Knowledge of SQL Server RDBMS, Service-Oriented Architecture, Java and XML are desired along with the ability to implement Industry Best Practices.
  • Below listed experiences are a must:
  • Installation of Oracle database software in RAC environment on Linux nodes.
  • Setup of Active Data Guard on primary and standby RAC Linux nodes.
  • Taken RMAN backups of databases in RAC and Active Data Guard environment.
  • Restored databases in RAC and Active Data Guard environment using RMAN backups.
  • Thorough understanding of RMAN strategies for backup and restore of databases running on Linux and Windows.
  • Worked with Oracle Support in resolving complex/difficult problems/cases.
  • Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
  • Strong problem solving, organizational, and decision making skills oriented on obtaining desired results.
  • Personal skills include the ability to work independently as well as part of a team and to have strong project organization and communication skills.
  • Achiever, selfmotivated, selfresponsible, and accountable.
  • Willing to provide support in evenings and weekends and be available by company supplied phone.
