    Job Summary

    There is one position which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidates education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities. This position will be located in Salt Lake City, UT.

    Safety Specialist:
    This role recommends and administers various company safety and industrial hygiene policies and programs. Provides oversight, coaching, advice, technical expertise and training on safety, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, construction, and operational work methods. Acts as a first responder to safety incidents and gathers and evaluates accident data. Conducts root cause analysis of safety incidents and recommends preventive actions. Identifies potential safety risks and implements corrective measures. Performs safety inspections and monitors and evaluates work practices to ensure compliance with all OSHA, regulatory and company safety policies and programs. Maintains awareness of governmental regulations and policies that may impact company operations. Tests, researches, and recommends new tools, systems and equipment, and ensures compliance with technical specifications. Develops, implements, and conducts safety, ergonomics and industrial hygiene training and presentations. Assists in the development of Accident Prevention Manuals, and technical training programs and materials. Provides advice and solutions to peers, customers, and co-workers. Works closely with managers, supervisors, safety committees, and other colleagues to develop risk reduction plans and supports other safety initiatives. Investigates third party safety incidents, often working closely with the claims department and regulators. Identifies, evaluates, and controls chemical exposures in the workplace, and performs other industrial hygiene related activities such as coordinating hearing conservation, respirator, and medical surveillance programs.

    Senior Safety Specialist:
    This role recommends and administers various company safety and industrial hygiene policies and programs. Provides oversight, coaching, advice, technical expertise and training on safety, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, construction, and operational work methods. Acts as a first responder to safety incidents and gathers and evaluates accident data. Conducts root cause analysis of safety incidents and recommends preventive actions. Identifies potential safety risks and implements corrective measures. Performs safety inspections and monitors and evaluates work practices to ensure compliance with all OSHA, regulatory and company safety policies and programs. Maintains awareness of governmental regulations and policies that may impact company operations. May administer public safety programs for internal and external stakeholders such as first responders, contractors and schools. Works closely with managers, supervisors, safety committees, and other colleagues to develop risk reduction plans and supports other safety initiatives.     Certificates/Security Clearances/Other

    Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

    Safety Specialist:
    2+ years of directly related work experience with a Masters degree; or
    3+ years of directly related work experience with a Bachelors degree; or
    5+ years of directly related work experience with Associates degree; or
    7+ years of directly related work experience with an HS/Technical/GED.
    *Directly related work experience means developing and/or administering safety or industrial hygiene related programs in a workplace environment. *

    In-depth knowledge of applicable safety and industrial hygiene regulations and requirements;
    Technical expertise in applicable job specific disciplines;
    Full knowledge of applicable hazardous material/chemical management and transportation;
    Job specific knowledge of ergonomic principles;
    Job specific knowledge of industrial hygiene sampling and surveying techniques;
    Excellent communication, writing, interpersonal and coaching skills;
    Good public speaking/presentation skills;
    Strong planning and organizational skills;
    Strong analytical skills;
    Proficient computer skills;
    Ability to perform accident/incident investigations

    Senior Safety Specialist:
    5+ years of directly related work experience with a Bachelors; or
    7+ years of directly related work experience with Associates; or
    9+ years of directly related work experience with an HS/Technical/GED; or

    Education Requirements

    Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

    Bachelor
    • Preferred Disciplines: Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, Ergonomics
    Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.
    Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

    Valid drivers license with good driving record.
