Description

The Shelter Advocate (part time, 2nd shift) position provides advocacy and support services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence who reside in the onsite emergency shelter.

This role coordinates all client services including safety planning, crisis intervention, life skills training, and household support.

This position will be an average of 16 hours per week, from 3-11:30pm (every other Sat / Sun and Fri / Mon).

Additional shifts available occasionally as well, a flexible schedule is preferred.

High school diploma or equivalent required

Experience in victim advocacy preferred

Experience with Microsoft based systems

Diversity, inclusion, and racial equity experience

Demonstrated creativity, initiative, maturity, and a passion for people of all ages

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work independently, and a commitment to ending domestic and sexual violence

Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) reading writing and speaking preferred

Local travel necessary, use of personal vehicle required with applicable insurance (at or above agency standard)

Completion of 40 hour domestic and 40 hour sexual violence crisis intervention trainings upon hire

Clearance of Illinois State finger print criminal background check (ongoing)

Clearance of Illinois DCFS Cants review (annual)
