We are currently seeking a
Full-time Buyer to join our growing hospital. The Buyer will be responsible for purchasing functions of the Materials Management department. They oversee edits as well as placing and composing purchase orders in computer system. The Buyer will be responsible for vendor\manufacturer files to ensure information is accurate and up-to-date. Additionally, the they will perform general clerical work such as filing, researching, and obtaining information for purchasers.

The responsibilities of the Buyer include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in all phases of supply distribution according to policies and supervisor's guidance and direction. Takes initiative by recognizing potential problems and working through them.
  • Composes purchase orders ensuring that information\data is accurate, prices are current, all pertinent information is included and signature is obtained.
  • Ensures vendor files are kept current.
  • Reviews open order files weekly, calls suppliers on backorder status, obtains delivery schedules, notifies department managers of status, documents on purchase order and refiles.
  • Places orders by electronic means as often as possible. Communicates delivery schedules, backorders and product status to requesters, process requisitions on a timely basis.
  • Communicates information effectively to Manager and requesters in a professional and timely manner. Recognizes authority, assists others, and performs tasks of other employees when they are absent or as needed to ensure adequate workload for the department.
  • Files department documents including General Stores, Receiving and Purchasing in a timely manner to assure accurate retrieval where necessary.
  • Performs inventory responsibility for general office stock and General Stores.

Job Requirements:


  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • At least 1 year hospital purchasing experience
  • Excellent and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Has the ability to multitask in both calm and stressful situation
