Roles and Responsibilities:

1.


Roasting Operations:

Oversee all aspects of coffee roasting process including monitoring roast profiles, adjusting equipment settings, and ensuring quality control standards are met.

2.


Inventory Management:
Manage inventory levels of green coffee beans, ensuring an adequate supply for production while minimizing waste and cost.

3.


Quality Control:
Conduct regular cuppings and tastings following SCA protocols to evaluate roast quality, flavor profiles, and consistency. Implement adjustments as necessary to maintain high-quality standards.

4.


Maintenance and Cleaning:
Perform regular maintenance on roasting equipment to ensure optimal performance and cleanliness. Troubleshoot and address any equipment issues that arise.

5.


Record-Keeping:
Maintain accurate records of roast profiles, inventory levels, production data, and quality control measurements. Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.

6.


Collaboration:

Work closely with other team members such as green coffee buyers, production staff, and packaging teams to coordinate production schedules and ensure smooth operations.

7.


Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to safety protocols and regulatory requirements related to food production and handling. Maintain a clean and organized workspace to meet hygiene standards.


Qualifications:

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years of experience in coffee roasting, with a strong understanding of roasting principles and techniques. Preferred if have roasted on different manufacturer machines.

Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of coffee varieties, origins, and flavor profiles. Familiarity with different roasting methods and equipment.

Attention to Detail:
Ability to maintain precise control over roast profiles and consistently produce high-quality coffee. Keen sensory evaluation skills for tasting and evaluating coffee.

4.


Problem-Solving Skills:
Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues and make adjustments to maintain consistent roasting quality. Proactive in identifying and addressing potential challenges.

5.


Team Player:
Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with other team members. Willingness to contribute to a positive work environment and support team goals.

6.


Flexibility:
Ability to adapt to changing production demands and schedules. Willingness to work flexible hours as needed, including weekends or evenings.

7.


Safety Consciousness:
Commitment to following safety protocols and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Knowledge of food safety regulations is a plus.


Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional certifications or training in coffee roasting or related fields are desirable.

Must be of 18 years of age or older.


This role is extremely physical, which will require:

  • Ability to repetitively lift, carry and position objects weighing up to pounds without assistance
  • Ability to repetitively push and pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance while kneeling, squatting, reaching about the head, reaching at the waist, reaching below the knees and bending at the knees
  • Ability to repetitively push and pull manual transport equipment (for example, pallet jack or hand truck) containing product loads up to a minimum of 100 yards without assistance
  • Ability to repetitively grasp and manipulate objects of varying size and weight requiring fine motor skills and handeye coordination
  • Ability to exert oneself physically over sustained periods of time to complete job activities
  • Ability to read information in small, medium and large print
  • Ability to stand a minimum of 8 hours during the workday up to 10 hours
  • Ability to walk a minimum of 4 hours during the workday
