JOB OBJECTIVE


The
Civil Craftsman is responsible for constructing, repairing and maintaining various civil structures such as buildings, and other infrastructure facilities.

The role involves working with a range of materials such as concrete, steel, wood, and other construction materials. The Civil Craftsman must have knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction techniques, and safety regulations.
REQUIREMENTS
EXPERIENCE- Must have 3+ years working as a carpenter on an industrial construction project

  • Must be able to read blueprints, plans, and drawings proficiently to perform duties
  • Must have knowledge of materials, tools, and processes involved with basic building techniques and form construction
  • Must be able to compute basic arithmetic functions, measure, mark, and cut equipment and materials to specification
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be able to work a full work schedule and any additional overtime with little to no notification
  • Must be willing to assist other crafts and perform additional job duties while not performing primary craft duties
  • Must have a valid Driver's License
  • Must pass drug test and background check
KNOWLEDGE- Civil Carpenter Journeyman will construct, dismantle, and repair wooden and metal objects and/or concrete forms.

  • Read blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work: locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required.
  • Identify all tools required for tasks.
  • Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.
  • Measure, mark, and cut required wooden/metallic materials to required specifications.
  • Construct, reenforce, and dismantle preconstructed concrete forms.
  • Build and construct wooden forms.
  • Work on miscellaneous construction projects such as but not limited to building decks and steps, building bulletin boards, and building any additional wooden structures.
  • Must be willing to assist other crafts and perform additional job duties while not performing primary craft duties

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting and lifting.
  • Will talk and hear to communicate.
  • Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull: objects, materials, controls and tools.
  • May be required to pick up, lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
  • Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work off of platforms/scaffolding using the appropriate fall protection requirements.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE.
  • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hivis safety vests, leather gloves and leather steeltoed work boots.
