Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Family Birthing Center / Labor & Delivery position requiring a NM or Compact RN license, NRP, and AWHONN fetal monitoring certification.

Responsibilities

Work is performed in a hospital Family Birthing Center (FBC) / Labor & Delivery unit
Cares for antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn patients
12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 3 days per week (36 hrs/week)
Floating between departments and/or local locations within 20 miles is required
Epic EMR used on-site; experience preferred but training is available
Antepartum responsibilities include triaging patients >20 weeks using obstetric acuity tools, labor and fetal assessment, evaluation for conditions such as PTL, preeclampsia, ROM, vaginal bleeding, and stabilization for delivery or transfer
Intrapartum responsibilities include labor and fetal assessment, medication administration (including Pitocin, mag sulfate, labetalol, insulin, and others), newborn stabilization, and preparation for vaginal or cesarean delivery
Postpartum and newborn responsibilities include assessment of vaginal and cesarean delivery patients, hearing screens, IV starts, medication administration (Hep B, Vit K, erythromycin, antibiotics), circumcision assistance, phototherapy, hypoglycemia care, and stabilization of critically ill newborns for transport
Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates will not be considered
Former permanent staff of this health system must have a minimum 1-year gap before being considered as a traveler
Candidates with prior experience at this health system will be verified for rehire eligibility

Requirements

Active NM or Compact RN license required
Required certifications: BLS (must be issued by AHA, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross), NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring
Minimum of 2 years of current L&D or FBC nursing experience required
ADN or ASN degree required
English proficiency required (speak, read, write)
