- ACLS certification needed before orientation completion
- PALS certification preferred. Newly licensed nurses must acquire ACLS and PALS within their first six (6) months of employment.
- Prior experience in the ED highly preferred.
- 2 years of telemetry experience is preferred.
- Compliance with all standards is essential.
- Must demonstrate critical thinking skills required for patient care.
- Exhibits strong observational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Capable of working under pressure with excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Proficient in applying hospital standards, teamwork, communication, respect, and time management.

ED Overview
As an integral part of Brigham and Women's Emergency Department, staff at Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital's Emergency Department offers caring and personalized care to all patients. Our experienced emergency physicians, physician assistants, nurses, and unit service techs provide care in a 21-bed unit with nursing ratios at 4 to 1. Nursing shifts are staggered throughout the day for better coverage during high-volume times. We treat patients of all ages, including pediatric cases, with a focus on teamwork and optimal treatment.
The Emergency Department operates 24/7 with a patient care model emphasizing quality and efficiency to minimize wait times. Diagnostic services like X-ray, CT scan, and ultrasound are available around the clock, with MRI services available for most of the day. Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital is a Primary Stroke Center and is in the process of launching a TeleStroke Program in partnership with BWH and MGH.
