Overview of Position

The Quality Control Technician is responsible for capturing sensory, analytical, physical and microbial data to help drive the manufacture of Safe Quality Foods process.

This person collaborates with other departments to help drive consistency in product manufacturing and ensure that products meet the Quality needs and expectations of Medifast customers.


Opportunity Highlights

  • Evaluate in-house and co-manufacture products using approved sensory and analytical methods to ensure conformance to specification.
  • Inspect production line start up, ingredients and packaging conformance per current SOP.
  • Verify Preventive and critical control points for each manufacturing line during production as per current Food Safety Plan.
  • Verify, test, and approve production equipment for proper cleaning and sanitation prior to product changeovers. Direct cleaning as necessary and communicate any failures to supervisor.
  • Support consumer complaint investigations by evaluating product, and reviewing documentation.
  • Collect and send samples out to a 3rd party lab, follow up, record and report results to supervisor.
  • Carry out and moderate panel tastings when necessary.
  • Promptly communicate and report non-conformance or incident during shift to the supervisor.
  • Adhere to Good Laboratory Practices at all times.
  • Participate in professional development trainings to continue to drive improvement.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts within the lab, and manufacturing, for instance LSS projects.
  • Complete any additional tasks as assigned by Supervisor.

Knowledge, Education, Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science and Chemistry, Biotechnology, or related science field or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 23 years of experience in food or pharmaceutical production required.
  • 2 years of QA/QC Technician experience in food or pharmaceutical / QC production preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Team oriented.
  • Basic computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
