The Pasadena Conservatory of Music (PCM) provides opportunities for students of all ages and backgrounds to learn, perform, and enjoy music.

Founded in 1984, PCM is a nationally accredited community music school that offers a wide range of programs, including individual and group instrumental instruction, music appreciation courses, master classes, summer camps, workshops, and concerts.

More than 1,200 students attend PCM annually and over 3,000 students in the San Gabriel Valley benefit from its outreach programs.

The Director of Finance and Administration is responsible for oversight and execution of all accounting-related activities within the Conservatory.

The Director of Finance and Administration supervises the Accounting Department, works closely with the Student Services Department in all matters that affect PCM's finances, and assists management in interpreting and utilizing managerial accounting information.

The Director of Finance and Administration oversees the Human Resources program (records and compliance).

The Director of Finance and Administration reports to the Executive Director and supports the work of the finance committee and board of directors through monthly reports.


Responsibilities:


  • Financial Management
  • Supervise the Accounting Department, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all financial processes
  • Develop and enforce effective policies and procedures in collaboration with the Student Services Department
  • Monthly review and reconciliation of bank account activity and general ledger accounts
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and assist in the budgeting process
  • Process banking and payroll activities
  • Codify and monitor internal controls and accounting procedures to ensure the safeguarding of PCM's assets
  • Serve as principal contact with auditing firm and support the preparation of PCM's audit and tax returns
  • Regulatory reporting and compliance

Human Resources

  • Manage employee records and benefit programs
  • Report to relevant regulatory entities (EDD, DOL, IRS)
  • Ensure compliance with labor regulations and coordinate mandated trainings
  • Administrative Oversight
  • Handle insurance policies and liaise with insurance brokers
  • Support the work of the risk management committee

Education and Experience:

Proficiency in nonprofit accounting principles

Five years relevant experience, including supervising support staff

Bachelor's degree minimum

Master's degree and/or relevant professional certification preferred
