Safety and Loss Control Specialist

We are currently seeking an experienced and proactive Safety Manager to join our team.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead our safety initiatives and ensure compliance with regulatory standards while fostering a culture of safety excellence.

The Safety and Loss Control Specialist will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety programs to promote a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.

This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with all levels of the organization.

The Safety and Loss Control Specialist will work closely with department managers, supervisors, and frontline employees to identify and mitigate workplace hazards.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and work practices to identify potential hazards and areas for improvement.
Collaborate with department managers and supervisors to develop and implement corrective action plans to address safety deficiencies.
Provide safety training and education to employees on topics such as hazard recognition, emergency response, and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and recommend preventive measures to reduce the risk of recurrence.
Maintain accurate records of safetyrelated incidents, training sessions, and inspections, may advise departments on claim filing procedures, reporting losses, or insuring property and may process insurance claims or perform other related administrative duties.
Interpret, apply, and explain laws and regulations and serve on committees.
Provides liaison, coordinates, and responds to inspections by external regulatory agencies; prepares inspection response for management; notifies department managers of areas of noncompliance and provides technical advice and assistance for corrective action.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

Position involves the physical ability to climb ladders, crawl in and around confined spaces, bend, stoop, and lift and carry approximately 40 pounds. This work involves frequent travel.

Travel Requirement:

Must be able to occasionally travel to our store locations within Northern Virginia and Richmond

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, or related field.
OSHA 30 Certificate Preferred
Minimum of 3 years of experience in safety management in Distribution Centers and Retail Stores.
Thorough knowledge of occupational safety regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA, DOT).
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and motivate others.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fastpaced environment.
Attention to detail and strong problemsolving skills.
Prior experience in conducting safety training and investigations is preferred.
