Early Childhood Education Coordinator


AGC is developing and launching a center-based Early Childhood (EC) Program and is looking for an early childhood expert with a passion for nature-based learning, Reggio Emilia, International Baccalaureate (IB), and/or Dual Language (DL).

The Early Childhood Coordinator will collaborate with the Lower School Principal and AGC's Design Team to develop a mission-aligned preschool program in our new innovative campus in an environment where AGC's values are thoroughly integrated and demonstrated.

The EC Education Coordinator reports to the Lower School Principal and is responsible for co-developing AGC's Early Childhood Program.

Some key responsibilities include collaborating to create an effective professional development plan for staff, collaborating with other AGC staff to develop curriculum, and ensuring that AGC's EC Program complies with Head Start, local licensing, and other compliance requirements.

Once the program is developed and launched in the fall of 2023, the position will evolve to include on-site responsibilities.


Community & Cultural Leadership

  • Uphold and support the school's commitment to environmental sustainability, global citizenship, whole child wellness, dual language and educational innovation through ensuring comprehensive curriculum integration and cultivating a missionaligned school culture
  • In collaboration with Lower School Principal, hire, train, and supervise teachers and EC staff
  • Codevelop and support in the implementation of a family recruitment plan
  • In partnership with the Executive Director and Lower School Principal, provide oversight and support of the continuous development and effective implementation of the EC's instructional program and services leading to whole child success among all of AGC's students
  • Build and maintain relationships to support and create opportunities for EC students and families; partners may include wraparound social service and social emotional learning support
  • Ensure that the Early Childhood Center complies with Head Start and local licensing and other compliance requirements
  • Develop and maintains an active governance structure following Head Start standards that includes community members
  • Represent the program in the community and in AGC's efforts to serve as a model for others through disseminating our innovation

Academic Leadership

  • Collaborate with the Lower School Principal and IB Primary Years Program (PYP) Coordinator to select and integrate a researchbased, developmentally appropriate EC pedagogy and curriculum that integrates with our IB and DL programs as well as our nature and discoverybased learning frameworks
  • Coach EC staff and implement successful staff performance measures to ensure all academic, compliance, and operational requirements are met
  • Support classroom and program monitoring through observations, review of electronic records, and work groups.
  • Helps assess classroom and program needs and assists with planning strategies for systems and the development in the areas of early childhood education, disabilities and mental health
  • Ensure professional and programmatic alignment is maintained with the school's overall mission and vision
  • Support with the development of daily schedules for staff (daily schedules for EC classrooms (classroom, duties, support staff, specials, prep and lunch/recess schedules), and schedules diverse learner schedules (ELL and SPED) within the EC program
  • Collaborate with the Lower School Principal and PYP Coordinator to establish, evaluate and continuously refine AGC's EC assessment framework and measurement of both our academic outcomes and mission
  • Participate in data analysis sessions to drive instructional planning and decision making and prepare reports to share with the Executive Director and others as needed

Family Engagement

  • Collaborate with the Family and Community Engagement to oversee EC admissions, onboarding and continued family engagement processes and strategies
  • Cultivate strong homeschool relationships by creating opportunities for EC parent involvement and education, including dual language informational workshops

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
  • At least five years of professional experience in an Early Childhood setting with experience in Head Start programs
  • Spanish bilingualism required
  • Leadership experience with a record of success in an EC setting
  • Strong track record of managing a cross functional team to achieve ambitious results through periods of major organizational growth or transition
  • Exceptional verbal, written, listening, and interpersonal skills (Spanish/English)
  • Strong strategic thinking and planning skills, with an ability to manage concurrent projects and priorities effectively
