Description

We are looking for an Associate General Counsel (Senior Director of Legal) to lead the Enterprise Governance and Legal Affairs department of a credit union. In this role, you'll be overseeing corporate policy management, legal process reviews, and providing legal support to all business units.

Here's what the job entails and what you need to succeed:

Lead the Enterprise Governance and Legal Affairs Department, responsible for policy management, legal process reviews, and general legal support.
Assist in developing First Tech's Privacy Program.
Collaborate with the General Counsel in managing pending litigation, providing research, and information on legal matters.
Offer legal counsel on retail loan products, focusing on areas like bankruptcy, consumer protection, collections, and more.
Work with outside counsel in civil actions, including bankruptcy, consumer protection, and intellectual property.
Draft and review legal documents related to the credit union and its members.
Stay updated on legal developments affecting federal credit unions and financial services.
Analyze laws and regulations to provide insights on potential outcomes for the credit union.
Advise on regulatory compliance matters related to consumer lending and deposit products.
Conduct internal assessments to identify compliance vulnerabilities.
Investigate policy violations by staff or vendors.
Take on additional duties as assigned by the General Counsel.

Essential Skills:

Minimum Education: Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited law school and admission to practice law.
6+ years of legal experience with expertise in financial services.
Experience in federal and state consumer credit laws and regulations.
Proven project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
Presentation skills for various audiences, including the Board of Directors.
Leadership experience in managing legal teams.

Location: Hillsboro, OR (HYBRID)

Target Compensation: $180,000 to $200,000 + annual bonus
