    Jefferson Franklin Community Action Corporation (JFCAC) located in Hillsboro, MO is seeking to fill a WIC Certifier position in our Women, Infants & Children Supplemental Food/Nutrition Program (WIC) Department.

    The WIC Certifier will provide WIC participants with an accurate and complete assessment as part of the WIC certification process.


    MAJOR TASKS:

    • The WIC Certifier will obtain physical, health, and dietary measures to certify for WIC participation. Enter data on certification forms, charts, and/or computer reference system; determine eligibility by assigning risk factors and explain to participant.
    • The WIC Certifier will provide all aspects of initial education component, with referrals of appropriate participant families to breastfeeding counselor.
    • The WIC Certifier will refer participants to appropriate social, health and nutrition resources.
    • The WIC Certifier will determine and prescribe WIC food package in accordance to federal and state regulations.
    • The WIC Certifier will identify participants with special nutrition needs, including special infant formulas, and refer to WIC nutritionist for counseling and food package assignment.
    • The WIC Certifier will determine if participant is high risk and prioritize next appointment, or refer for further education contact.
    • The WIC Certifier will maintain confidentiality standards of WIC programs and HIPAA.
    • The WIC Certifier will work with infants and toddlers to obtain accurate screening measurements, and plot growth and weights.
    • The WIC Certifier will establish and maintain effective working relationships with participants and staff.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    • High School or General Education Development (GED) diploma.
    • Must complete state required training within six months of hire date.
    • Six months experience as a WIC Health Professional Assistant (HPA); or two years' experience in a community health / nutrition program.

    OTHER REQUIRED CAPABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Work with numerous clients in a day.
    • Basic computer skills.
    • Effective communication skills.
    • May be required to travel in or out of community with own transportation.
