PURPOSE


The _
Dental Assistant_ is responsible for assisting the dentist with clinical procedures that includes exposing and processing x-rays, taking alginate impressions, and screening emergency patients.

The employee will be expected to assist in four-handed dental procedures including but not limited to: initial exams, periodontal maintenance, amalgam and composite restorations, endodontics, oral surgery, crown and bridge work, and removable prosthodontics.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES, TASKS, & FUNCTIONS

  • Chart oral conditions as dictated by dental providers.
  • Obtain, interpret, and evaluate personal, medical and dental histories for all patients.
  • Identify patients' needs using appropriate forms of communication.
  • Prepare and assist with the administration of local anesthesia.
  • Prepare the handpieces for laboratory and operatory use.
  • Prepare the mounting and articulation of study models for providers & patients review.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

KEY COMPETENCIES & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of all dental specialties, terminology, and procedures used.
  • Ability to practice patient and operative safety measures during radiation.
  • Knowledge of all clinical proficiency in selection and transfer of instruments in operative dentistry.
  • Maintains all dental equipment and supplies, personal safety and hygiene, and proper infection control protocol in compliance with CDC and OSHA regulations & guidelines.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with staff and patients.
  • Should be a critical thinker, detailoriented, and a selfstarter while taking initiative.
  • Ability to proficiently use the AED machine.

EDUCATION & TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduate from a Dental Assistant Program.
  • Current CPR/Basic Life Support Certification upon hire or willing to obtain & renew as needed.

$ $20.72 per hour
